About Me & This Blog

Hi!  My name is Raylene Cochrane, and I am really hating writing this About page!  Gaaah!  This is my 4^th attempt at it.  Previous attempts have been either banal or overly intense and always too long yet still incomplete.  So I’m going to try just being as direct as possible, even if it risks being curt (and failing Blogging University’s About Page 101).

I guess there are just 2 main things you need to know about me in order to understand this website and blog.

• I am a lover of God’s Word! (I cannot emphasize this enough without having this get away from me again!)
• I have a great desire to help women in their personal lives and spare them as much as possible from the heartache and struggles I’ve been through.

The goal of this site is to somehow bring those 2 things together into something singular and greater than they can be alone.  (The passion I’m feeling right now about this is literally moving me to tears!)

Let me go on to say, before it gets buried too far down for the quick-skimming readers to see, that regardless of who you are—man, woman, married, single, childless or very fertile, if you find anything I post here as helpful to you, then you are certainly welcome to like a post, follow this blog, and otherwise interact with me here!  I will be very happy to minister to anyone, but just be aware that my target audience is women—particularly those who are a wife, a mom, or both, and even those who hope to be in one of those roles—so my pronouns and examples, etc. will most likely be feminine.

You might find it beneficial to know that I have been married for more than 20 years to the same guy, and we have a daughter who is now in her 20s.  And no, it has not been all “happily-ever-after.”  Certainly, not an automatic “happily-ever-after;” we’ve had to work hard to achieve the level of good we have now.  It is definitely better than it was at the beginning, and I’d like to help others reach a better place in their lives, marriages, and family life.

We also have a cat, with whom I have had a love-hate relationship for as long as he’s been with us.  I’ve hated him for insisting on being in my way and demanding my attention when I’ve been so busy doing other things, but I’ve loved this little secret agent of God for being a reminder of God’s creative genius in the midst of our man-made jungles.  I hear the internet runs on pictures of kitty-cats, so here’s my contribution!

Other things to know about me include my love for music.  I love singing and playing the piano, and they tell me I’m pretty good at it despite my hearing loss.  More importantly, I am a worshipper.  You don’t have to be good at the former to do the latter or even do the former to do the latter, but music and worship do go well together!  So you will probably see references to music throughout my posts.

I think at this point that it’s time for me to wrap up this About page, because if I try to tell you anything more about me, this blog-site, my philosophies, etc., then I will win the award for the internet’s longest About page!  Just come back and check this page every so often; I’m pretty sure there will be a 5^th revision at some point in the future!

* MDiv, specializing in Pastoral Counseling, from AGTS

* I also have additional education, both formal and informal, that fits under the categories of counseling and coaching.
